Impacts of Building a Dam - Traffic Dangers
Cachagua Road is a twisting, eleven mile country road in mountainous terrain
with blind curves, hairpin turns and one-lane bridges. The road is so narrow (18' -20'
wide) with little shoulder, that it barely accommodates school buses in light traffic.
There is no center-line because of a danger to traffic.

Planned Cement Truck Traffic for dam construction
- Large, heavy cement trucks would use Cachagua Road to reach the proposed dam
construction site.
- The peak 6-month construction period would include 36-90 one-way truck trips per
day, 6 days a week, and daily double shifts of 125 workers each.
- The Supplimental Invironmental Impact Report admits "that impacts of
construction traffic would be significant and unavoidable".

Inescapable Conclusions
- Intensive cement truck traffic is an unacceptable use of a winding, narrow country
road.
- Such a plan, if pursued, would place Cachagua and its residents at high risk
particularly with regard to traffic safety, road damage, and dirt, dust and noise
pollution.
